Cheese and chai (good enough to earn this post).
This seemingly nondescript paratha shop in Pakistan is unique in its own special way. It’s the Home of the World Famous Luke Damant Cheese Paratha. At least, I’m going to call it that.
Our snack at this Quetta Chai was also special for two reasons.
- To me, it felt like the real Pakistan. Out in the open, enjoying chilly air and cupped hands cuddling warm mugs, we just sat around and chatted.
- It’s awesome because of Luke Damant.
Luke is a YouTuber with more than eight million followers and he has single-handedly turned this local haunt into a world monument, unabashedly admiring their cheese paratha online.
Now, understand that paratha is a rich and crispy food comparable to a tortilla. It’s made of flour, oil, water, and salt. Adding melted cheese to a paratha levels up the flavor and makes it a cheese paratha.
It was because of Luke’s videos and love for paratha that we visited the restaurant in the first place. It was impossible not to try this renowned food and see if it was truly as good as the Australian makes it out to be!
And yes, it was completely worth the hype. I found the buttery, crispy paratha to be 101% amazing. The delicious cheese was hot and gooey and the absolute perfect addition to a paratha.
The chai we had with it was sweet, bold, and creamy. I enjoyed every sip.
If I’ve convinced you to fly to Islamabad for cheese paratha, I’m willing to push my luck and commend the Saeed Book Bank to you also. Just a short walk away from Quetta Chai, this building is more than a bookshop; it’s truly a book bank.
I was impressed with the number of classics there were in this bookstore! I had never seen so many in print! And to find them in Pakistan was extremely unexpected!
