Running for the Reward
I went on my first run in a while. Really, it was me convincing myself to get away from all of the things that I have that I want/need to do. It wasn’t because I was pushing exercise out of my life because I disdain the pain. I actually enjoy the pain and it was good to get into the swing of things again.
In fact, I thought I’d write a post about this because it is the most bizarre thing that people find enjoyment in something that causes pain. I suppose it’s not so strange because there is a great reward at the end. I have found in my own running that I run not because I want to be faster, but because the effects of an increased metabolism urge me outside and onto the road. When I run, I sleep better, I feel better, and I enjoy eating. Life is better when I run because of the reward I get for the pain.
It reminds me of Romans 8:18. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
Maybe this can kind of get you out there wherever you can run today.
P.S. The endorphins are better when the exercise is harder. Run the biggest hill around in order to get more bang for your buck.
