Catching LIzards

Sometimes, it takes all of what you have, and nothing of what you don’t have. That’s when you’re in your element.
But most of the time, we’re not in our elements. It’s just us against all the odds.
I caught this lizard—the one in the picture—despite everything he wanted. He was on a chair and I tried to grab him. Then he jumped onto the table and hid underneath it. Imagine his surprise when I just picked up the entire table and carried it over to the grass, where I quickly pinned him down.
Sometimes fighting the odds can feel like that. You’re fighting as absolutely hard as you can, but then the table is picked up and something with a billion times more power than you says “Actually, I want you to do this.”
What do you do in that moment? What can you do but fight the elements?
I believe that God wants us to be witness to be people for his glory. I also, at the same time, believe that he wants me to discipline my talents so that I can fully serve him. Fight—be the lizard who tries to get away, even if you’re small and you can be caught.
You just have to be the lizard who doesn’t get caught.
