Want to write faster?

ONE. TWO. SPRINT!

Recently, I was reading the blog of a writer whom I very much admire, and he mentioned something called ‘sprints’. Some reason I want to call it a blitz. It’s a writer thing. So, you get a couple friends, or you can try to do it by yourself, but you start pounding (or scribbling) out words as fast as possible. You only have an hour to write as much as you can.

I did this with a friend via email recently, and I really enjoyed it. I managed to squeeze out 1.2k for my next book. I know a lot of people can go faster and get more productive things written than I did, but this was a really fun event that I think all writers should at least try. It’s funner (ahem-‘more fun’.) to write with more people!

My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
