First night experience in Pakistan.
It was drizzly, dark, and deep into the night when my tired family landed in Islamabad, Pakistan.
One of our bags was choked up in the airport’s inner workings for an hour but we were still on our way out without serious delay.
Just outside the airport, in a humid, exhaust-choked bay, they loaded our bags into the back of a pickup truck while we crowded into an aged minivan.
It was so dark and so late that there was almost nothing to see outside the windows on the ride to our hotel.
We stopped for 15 or so minutes when our drivers wanted to re-cover the baggage.
When we got to our hotel, we helped the guys move our bags to our rooms. They seemed to think it was strange that we wanted to help and thanked us generously for our assistance.
Our place didn’t have quite enough beds for us all to crash. I was eager to test out some compact sleeping gear we’d brought. I blew up my mattress and rolled out one of these sleeping bags.
The idea of sleep was tantalizing, and I had no problems sleeping there.
With all there was to be explored, it was hard not to be excited.
