The Machete of your Mind.

My machete cuts through the air and slices a flying cardboard box in half.

Every time I make it all the way through with one swipe, I’m extra pleased. Though a strong swinging arm, unbroken focus, and low wind are helpful, the crucial element to a neat slice is a sharp blade. So, before I dream of slicing, I’ve got to be sharpening.

Rasp.

Rasp.

Rasp.

I have to hone the edge until it’s lethal; a dull blade is unmanageable, dangerous, and almost entirely useless.

But then think about your mind—is it dull, blunted by the world?

We cut through opinions contrary to our Biblical worldview all of the time (especially in America, thanks to our culture’s scorning Christian living as if it were a bad joke).

If you go anywhere, your mind (if forged correctly to begin with) will be dulled up against the lusts and lies of the world.

Fact is, up against the weeds and branches and cardboard boxes of this world (things like, shall we say, talk shows, coworkers, magazines, secular shows) your mind is going to need a lot of love on the sharpening stone to get back in order.

This world will mess you up.

Build a routine where you bring yourself to God, to summit to Him and what He asks of you, if you don’t have one already.

Get onto the stone, get into the Word and Will of God, and He will be with you and shape you the way you should go.
