The smallest cucumbers you’ll probably ever see.

In just the past two months, I think I’ve doubled the number of foraging plants I know and one of my new favorites is called creeping cucumber.

The Greek scientific name (Melothria pendula) indicates that this plant has small white grapes that hang.

They’re in the same family (Cucurbitaceae) as your more traditional cucumber, and they taste just one you would pick up at a grocery store (or market). I believe that they’re better than even home-grown cucumbers because they have notes of citrus.

I’m not going to lie. They’re hard to resist snacking on.

As good as they are raw, the real question is whether or not they’ll make good mini pickles.

Indy.
