Judas Smith from GodMyWay Ministries (Godmyway.com) says this about the EdiBible:

“This is exactly what I’ve always wanted! The EdiBible helps me feel better about the way I live (I never really went for the whole repent of sin thing anyway)!

So, what exactly is the EdiBible?

The EdiBible is your standard Bible in your preferred translation (but with special double spacing for easy edits) and comes with the EdiBible Marker set. The premium EdiBible (19.99 USD) comes with a set of markers for easy nullification of verses.

The first marker is called God Didn’t Really Mean This; This marker is to get rid of those nasty verses that God wasn’t serious about. After all, God loves us and wants us to live our best life now.

The second marker? Context Says This Isn’t for Me; This marker is made to cover up those silly verses where God was talking to someone else, probably a perfectly horrible person.

And finally, Ancient Ideals Are Hogwash; God wrote the Bible for people two thousand years ago—two thousand! Any verse that slips by the Context Shows This Isn’t for Me marker can be blotted out with this handy one.

Don’t wait! The EdiBibles are selling fast, and you have to act now to be sure to get one!

Remember, the EdiBible can change your life!

… … …

Now, obviously, the ‘EdiBible’ is a joke, but there’s something you should know.

EdiBibles are REAL, and they look just like normal Bibles.

You see, if you just act like your Bible is an EdiBible, it becomes one.

The Devil will give you the markers to tell you that God’s not serious, that context can exclude you, and that we shouldn’t hold to ideas and rules from the first century.

But it’s all a lie!

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Heb 4:12)

Satan will also tell you that if you ignore the verses you don’t like, you’ll be popular, richer, and will feel better… and I say, at the end of the day, he’s right. Chances are that you will feel better about yourself if you ignore half the Bible, and you’ll definitely be more popular and have more money if you do.

But all material things we earn will burn on judgement day, leaving us empty and alone.

[E]ach one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. (1Co 3:13)

If we give what we have to God and use it how He tells us to, we store up treasure in heaven. (Mat. 19:21)

But there’s one false promise in the list that’s otherwise true. The EdiBible promises that you’ll be happy, but God is our source of joy and happiness!

I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psa 16:8-11)

And finally, the advertisement said that the EdiBible can change your life. Using an EdiBible CAN and WILL change your life in the worst way possible. We need God’s Bible, His entire Bible, to make it.

…man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. (Deu. 8:3)

I have to confess that I’ve looked at my Bible like it’s an EdiBible.

I’ve used the Did God Really Mean This? marker a thousand times. I’ve mentally crossed out verses.

But I’m not writing this because I think that I know better than you do now, I’m writing this because I’ve been there. I’ve done that. I’ve fallen into the trap and ignored my Bible. Ignored it for too long. But when you finally believe God, believe everything He says and base your life on HIM and HIS WORDS, He will protect you and your life will stand strong. Jesus said,

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Mat 7:24)

If you ignore Jesus’ words, if you treat your Bible like an EdiBible, you will be like the man who built his house on the sand.

Beware friends and remember;

Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. (Pro 30:5)
